**The Costs Assistant is there to support the Head of Costs with business costs activities.**

**Role Responsibilities**:

- Provides support to departments in preparing claims for payment of damages costs and disbursements.
- Work effectively on Proclaim to produce costs schedules and Bill files correctly and facilitate support to fee earners also on these systems.
- Ensure profit costs are maximised where possible on every file.
- Ensure that payments are allocated to the correct file/matter when funds are received.
- Ensure that bills are submitted and have been received by the relevant authority, files are completed undertakings are discharged, disbursements are paid and files are closed.
- Ensure the Client received a Final Statute Bill upon payment of damages.
- Provide general administrative support to the Costs Department.
- Review any aged client balances and resolve the same to clear ledgers
- Provide support for Litigators in respect of Costs Budgeting in the Commercial Litigation Department.
- Keep up to date with any changes in costs case law and updates via MBL Seminars or as directed by Head of Costs.
- Undertake any miscellaneous jobs that may be allocated.

- Capability to undertake all assignments in a timely manner
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Computer literacy
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Discretion, as dealing with confidential information
- Good standard of spelling and grammar
- Ability to work to deadlines and to do several tasks at the same time

**Job Type**: Part-time

**Salary**: £20,000.00 per year
