**About Engineering Services Delivery**

Provide Network Rail and the rail industry with safe, operational testing and trialling for track machines, infrastructure, equipment and new and modified technology. They deliver specialist engineering, asset management, systems analysis, modelling and rail test development services. The team develop robotics, design tools and new technologies as well as designing, developing and manufacturing the high-performance switch system point operation equipment. Working closely with the routes, regions, central functions and industry colleagues to improve the experience of our passengers and freight users.

**Brief Description**:
Are you a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a passion for engineering and project management? We are looking for a dynamic and driven Project Assistant to join our team at Network Rail. As a vital member of our team, you will have the opportunity to assist with the implementation of cutting-edge systems and procedures to ensure a cost-effective, high-quality, safe, and environmentally responsible approach to design, construction, commissioning, and other technical activities on relevant projects.

Key responsibilities include monitoring projects for engineering compliance to Network Rail standards and specifications, assisting with the management of engineering activities to meet program requirements, and producing project engineering and H&S documentation. You will also play a key role in planning and monitoring of Signalling Schemes, undertake site management duties, and assist with Testing and Commissioning activities. With a focus on safety and environmental responsibility, you will ensure that signalling asset databases are updated to reflect changes in the infrastructure.

**About the role (External)**:
**Main Responsibilities**
1. Assist with the implementation of Network Rail systems and procedures to maintain a cost effective, high quality, safe and environmentally responsible approach to design, construction, commissioning and other technical activities on relevant projects, compliant with all relevant legislation.
2. Monitor projects for engineering compliance to the standards and specification of Network Rail.
3. Assist with the management of engineering activities so that they result in schemes that are affordable and meet programme requirements in a safe and environmentally responsible manner for time, cost and quality.
4. Assist with the production of project engineering and H&S documentation including production of Work Package Plans, Task Briefing Sheets and SSOWPs.
5. Assist with the planning and monitoring of Signalling Schemes
6. Undertake site management duties as required
7. Undertake ES and PICOP activities as required for National Signal Works Possessions
8. Assist with Testing and Commissioning activities as required

9. Ensure Signalling asset databases are updated to reflect changes in the infrastructure as a result of the section portfolio.
- Good knowledge and experience in signalling engineering, ideally with involvement in construction and design projects.
- Technical qualifications to ONC or equivalent GNVQ level.
- Knowledge of relevant standards, procedures and instructions.
- An understanding of the arrangements required for the independent assessment of work.
- CDM, risk assessment, engineering management competency.
- Able and willing to drive vehicles as required by business need.

**Salary**: £40,614 - £46,692 per annum depending on skills and experience - 35 hours a week
