We’re seeking a dynamic individual to take on the role of Assistant Director of Policy and Strategy, a position at the forefront of influencing positive change within public services.

**Job description**:
**The role**
- Directly advising and supporting the Ombudsman on their engagement with stakeholders of the highest priority, including ministers, Select Committee chairs, chairs of public bodies, and high-profile speaking engagements.
- Oversee PHSO’s work to use the learning from the complaints we handle to influence improvement in public services, working closely with Operations and Communications.
- Lead and oversee the development of PHSO’s corporate strategy.
- Maintain ongoing relationships with key Government departments, NHS oversight bodies and other relevant strategic stakeholders.
- Oversee the management of the Policy & Strategy budget.
- Ensure equality, diversity and inclusion is embedded in corporate strategy and key strategic projects.

**Person specification**:
**The successful applicant**
- Educated to degree level or equivalent or have equivalent work-based experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of key Parliamentary processes, such as Select Committee inquiries and the passage of legislation.
- Knowledge and understanding of strategic analysis and strategy development methods.
- Excellent team management and line management skills, able to motivate and inspire people to succeed.
- Significant experience of developing and influencing public policy.
- Significant experience of developing and maintaining productive relationships with senior external stakeholders.
