We are seeking resourceful and experienced wellbeing professionals to join our Wellbeing Support team. The post-holder will pro-actively work with colleagues across the University to promote and embed wellbeing, as well as providing support, advice, and brief wellbeing interventions for individual students on a very broad range of issues.

You will be able to understand the demands on academic departments and collaborate with colleagues effectively to provide a range of preventative measures which will offer students the skills they need to navigate the pressures of student life at a high-ranking University.

You will also be highly skilled in brief consultation and an ability to be resourceful and solution-focused in one-to-one appointments, providing students with the advice and support they need to better manage the difficulties they are facing.

This Wellbeing Adviser role will suit health, social work or counselling professionals, particularly those with experience of working with students in a further or higher education setting, or a similar institutional context/ age group.

There will be a requirement for some weekend work, usually during Welcome Week and Open Days.

**JOB PURPOSE**

The Wellbeing Adviser role combines wellbeing promotion activities, with the provision of individual professional and confidential support to students.

You will pro-actively work with colleagues across the University to promote and embed wellbeing in our student community, as well as providing support, advice, and brief wellbeing interventions for individual students on a very broad range of issues.

You will be involved with relevant procedural work, projects and campaigns and delivering skills sessions etc.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

1. To promote the University of Warwick’s wellbeing agenda and Wellbeing Support Services by engaging students within their academic departments and elsewhere on campus, providing frontline support, supporting campaigns and developing a wide range of wellbeing information and targeted initiatives to promote optimal health and wellbeing.
To promote an effective working partnership with departmental staff and other colleagues across the University e.g. in faculties, library, professional services etc offering guidance (also at meetings/ presentations) on supporting students and staff, and contributing to relevant committees.

2. To provide information, advice, signposting and support on a broad range of issues for students by undertaking initial assessment and advice, and subsequent liaison between support services, both internal and external to the University. This will include conducting brief consultation appointments to assess need and signpost to the appropriate service. You will follow relevant procedures (e.g. in cases of hospitalisation, infectious diseases, missing students etc) and provide an appropriate professional response, in line with the urgency of the presenting issue. You will assist in managing University interventions in response to incidents involving the student population.

3. To assist in the production and dissemination of wellbeing material (including materials relevant to special events, e.g. University Open days and Mental Health Awareness days), design and deliver skills sessions, and contribute to wellbeing campaigns.

4. To undertake appropriate administration and support the development of the service, including a commitment to continued professional development and evidence based practice in wellbeing. You will maintain accurate records, use appropriate levels of confidentiality, collect feedback, write and update procedures/ promotional materials, identify potential new initiatives and provide regular statistical data/reports as requested by senior colleagues in the team.
