At National Highways, we’re looking for an Environment Specialist (Arboriculture & Landscape) to join our team based in the South West. As part of this role, you’ll contribute to the development and delivery of projects and maintenance works for the South West region, providing technical expertise on environmental topics and outcomes.

**_You may be required to work unsociable hours and will be required to drive as part of your role and will need to have a full clean driving license to be considered for this position and during employment. _**

**What you’ll be leading on**
- Co-ordinate and undertake activities involved in the identification and evaluation of environmental needs within the national highways soft estate.
- Collaborate with engineering colleagues and Route Managers to ensure forward programme plans reflect asset needs and priorities, environmental legislation, business priorities and strategies.
- Contribute to the development of process and procedures directly related to environmental asset.
- Ensure that asset inventory and condition information is captured and maintained in the relevant databases.
- Recommend opportunities to improve environmental asset management capability, processes and approaches, and manage the implementation of changes within own area of responsibility.

**To be successful you’ll need**
- Level 4 Certificate/Diploma in Arboriculture (Tree Management) or equivalent qualification in relevant discipline or equivalent experience
- Tree Risk Management qualifications and experience undertaking Safety Tree Condition Inspections and tree management
- Landscape management experience
- Environmental asset management decision making (e.g., investment, lifecycle costs, value optimism, service optimisation)
- Knowledge of asset condition assessment and degradation modelling
