Hinckley, United Kingdom Western Power Distribution Full time

Job Introduction
We are currently recruiting for a Grade 5 Network Planner to join us at our Hinckley depot. Planners design our network and work with our Engineers to construct, reinforce, alter and replace our equipment. As you can imagine, the pace is fast, and if you join us, our customers will trust you to provide excellent service and minimise any impact.

To be considered, you'll need English and Maths GCSE Grade C/Level 4 minimum, or Functional Skills Level 2 or above. You'll hold a Level 2 City & Guilds 2339, or equivalent electrical qualification of the same level. We'll need to see evidence of your qualifications, and if not already attained you'll need to undertake Level 3 City & Guilds 2339.

Ready to power up your career? Join us and impact the way people heat, light and fuel their homes, businesses and vehicles. Keep reading and apply.

If you are offered a position, you will be required to successfully complete a basic DBS check that shows any unspent convictions or conditional cautions.
- Please note you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.

Main Responsibilities
You’ll be hands-on, and be responsible for designing, costing and providing quotes to our customers for new connections and diversions. You will also raise projects for the replacement/diversion/reinforcement of existing electricity network assets, working mainly on the low voltage system. As an electrical consultant, you’ll use your expertise to determine how best we can provide new connections and if the existing network can handle new loads in the area. You’ll also:

- Assist as required to plan, prepare and deliver new single services, alterations and small capital projects
- Prepare capital scheme files for the delivery teams
- Design schemes that align with Engineering Directives and our statutory requirements
- Carry out low voltage network studies using our internal software
- Prepare Quotations and Connection Agreements for LV connected works
- Issue variations
- Assess the safety of the project and remove or avoid site risks
- Liaise with customers and provide excellent customer service at all times

6,700 colleagues share our vision to be at the heart of a clean, fair, affordable energy future. If this appeals to you too, you could soon work in a supportive, rewarding and friendly environment that empowers everyone to succeed. We live by our values of doing the right thing, finding a better way and using our drive to make things happen every day. That’s why we’ll help you build a worthwhile career to be proud of - whatever your role and passion. Together we can bring energy to life using your expertise and the latest technology.

You may already have some low-voltage experience as an electrician, work for an ICP or be a Grade 4 Planner. Either way, we need you to understand our customers and their needs - they’ll likely be small businesses, local authorities, builders, consultants or developers. Strong communication skills are key, so you can provide the customer with the correct works and explain issues simply and clearly. As you’ll be in control of your diary, we’ll need you to be resilient, organised and able to prioritise your workload. Team players thrive in this role, and experience using iPads and computers is a must. As this is a technical role that relies on additional software, we’ll provide training. You will need to be mobile throughout the area as you may need to carry out site visits or be required to undertake standby duties.

You may not possess all the skills required to carry out the role at present but you will have the confidence and ability to reach the necessary standards with appropriate training.

**Your Benefits**

Joining the UK’s leading electricity distribution business means plenty of career opportunities and well-deserved recognition. We reward hard work and encourage ambition. So, as well as a competitive salary, you’ll have 26 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays. You can use our competitive contributory pension scheme (we double match your contributions up to a maximum of 12%), and you could even benefit from our annual Share Save plan. We supply your protective clothing and safety equipment, and there’s free parking at all our main sites. Our Employee Assistance Programme is there to take care of you and includes musculoskeletal and physiotherapy services if you need them.
