Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding career in electrical engineering?

We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Specialist to join our team at National Grid plc. As an Apprentice Fitter, you will play a crucial role in the safe construction, maintenance, and repair of the electrical power network.

In this role, you will work on distribution systems up to 66kV and assist with network operations. You will also be responsible for constructing distribution substations, installing plant, and carrying out routine inspection, maintenance, and repairs of substation and protection equipment. Additionally, you will install and terminate secondary wiring, record asset routes, details, and positions, test earthing, voltage, phasing, and phase rotation, and write outage requests and switching programmes for simple outages.

To be successful in this role, you will need excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. You must also have a strong commitment to safety and be willing to learn and develop your skills throughout your apprenticeship. Our minimum entry criteria require GCSE English at Grade A*-C/9-4 or Level 2 Functional/Key Skills English, GCSE Mathematics at Grade A*-C/9-4 or Level 2 Functional/Key Skills Maths, GCSE Science at Grade A*-C/9-4 or BTEC Science Level 2 equivalent, and two other GCSE's A*-C/9-4 or Level 2 qualifications in any subject.
