At BAE Systems, we are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team in Coventry.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a range of exciting projects, developing design solutions and managing requirements for complex systems.

This is an ideal role for someone who is passionate about electrical engineering and has experience working with power systems. The salary for this position is £70,000 - £90,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead the development of power systems designs. This will involve working closely with our Engineering Manager and external specialists to ensure that our designs meet the required standards.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Developing design solutions to agreed time, cost and quality
  • Managing requirements and acceptance criteria for power systems
  • Understanding contractual and performance requirements
  • Producing documentation to support design review processes
  • Providing technical support during integrated performance and acceptance activities
  • Reviewing supplier documentation and ensuring it is captured and recorded appropriately
  • Supporting the development of estimates for scope of work and resources required
  • Delivering technical input and engineering solutions in support of build activities, defect resolution and change management

Requirements:

  • BEng (Hons)/MEng or equivalent and CEng (or be able to satisfy requirements for CEng)
  • Demonstrable experience of engineering lifecycle
  • Understanding of at least one of the following areas: Power system modelling; generators; switchgear; protection; power electronics
  • In-depth understanding of at least one of the following areas:

o Power Systems Architecture

o Power Systems Modelling (Simulation and Analysis)

o Power Generation and Distribution - both AC & DC

o Power System Protection and Co-ordination

o Power System Operation

o Power Electronics

o Power System Earth Fault Monitoring

  • Experience of working within a relevant Engineering role to industry codes and standards
