Patients need information and support relating to the wider impact that cancer has on their lives to self-manage their condition and live well, beyond their cancer diagnosis. Examples of the types of information and support required include financial and welfare benefits advice; emotional and psychological support; community resources; and peer support groups.

Whilst the Trust does provide some of this support, patients are largely signposted to other services in the wider area. In order to meet the need for an outward facing cancer information and support service, that is well integrated with the North West Surrey community, Macmillan Cancer Support has funded two brand new B6 Information and Support Advisor posts to develop, implement and run this service.
