The Amplified Voices Lead role is a vital part of our service. All of our services have been shaped by those who use them - our client voices lie at the heart of every decision we make - and it is the Amplified Voice Lead's responsibility to help ensure that survivor voices continue to be heard.

**We recruit for attitude and not necessarily qualifications**. If you have experience of behaviour change and want to make a positive difference, we'd love to hear from you.

**Equality, diversity & inclusion are at the heart of our work** and play a crucial role in championing an inclusive approach to all our practice.

**Our History and services.**

Our organisation was founded in 1977 by the late Lily Jones. Lily Jones was a “gritty and determined” woman who dedicated her life to helping people escape from their abusers.

She arrived in Crewe in 1974 and, after running an action group that campaigned for women’s rights, she set up what is now known as My CWA (Cheshire Without Abuse). After a long struggle to secure premises, Lily finally opened her women’s refuge in 1983.

In the early days, she ran a helpline from her own home and, on several occasions, helped people move across the country herself to escape from their abusers. Lily even fought for funding while fighting her own personal battle against breast cancer. Lily sadly passed away 2003 - aged just 53 - but her commitment to helping families affected by domestic abuse lives on in the charity she set up.

Lily’s legacy lives on in the multi-award-winning My CWA we know today. We offer a range of services, including a 24-hour helpline, refuge accommodation, practical advice, legal clinics, peer support groups and recovery and behaviour change programmes. We also offer specialist support for children and young people affected by domestic abuse.

Abuse can happen regardless of age, class, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, race or religion. Last year alone, we helped around 3,000 people through our whole family approach supporting survivors, children as young as two and perpetrators who want to change their harmful behaviours.

Our vision is to build a community where adults and children live free from the fear of domestic abuse. Our mission is to help people impacted by domestic abuse, and our values are Trust, Courage and Respect.

Key Responsibilities

To build a survivor network that will influence policy making, support delivery of services and support each other.

To deliver a maximum of 5 x regular weekly peer support group sessions alongside survivors, organising the programme content to meet survivor needs.

This role requires an individual who can gather feedback and information and shape this into plans, reports and actions, ensuring that survivor voices are heard at the right levels and in the right places

This role will lead on the development and delivery of our annual survivor-led conference and develop other opportunities for survivor voices to be heard

To continuously develop professional expertise around domestic abuse from the perspective of survivors

To help plan creative and innovative responses and resources to survivor needs To develop and support volunteers who are supporting with this work

Build connections with and learn from cross
- sector organisations, to build expertise from unheard voices and communities

To deliver presentations about the key themes and issues emerging from the work Connect experts by experience with Local Authorities and other agencies to offer insight and improve practice, amplifying their voices at multi-agency and partner meetings Value the input of colleagues and volunteers who have lived experience both within and outside the organisa
