We are looking for dedicated staff to join our friendly residential childcare team working with children (5-11 years old on admission) as a senior residential childcare officer. We are looking for seniors or experienced residential childcare workers who want to progress and make a real difference to the children's lives.

Right Trak have been established since 2006 and have an excellent reputation in the sector with all three of our homes holding a GOOD OFSTED rating. We have two homes in Newcastle and one in Ashington.

We have a very visible senior management team and extensive staff support structures in keeping with a formal and defined therapeutic model including group and clinical supervision for all staff from our clinical psychologist.

Right Trak provide extensive in house training and additional external CPD where identified

**Job Summary**

Right Trak are recruiting for full time permanent senior residential childcare officer to join our therapeutic specialist childcare setting. This positon is for one of the homes in Newcastle and we are a specialist therapeutic children's home.

**Special requirements**
- To work with and maintain a high level of supervision with all children
- To communicate with other relevant bodies and agencies i.e. education establishments, social workers etc on a regular basis and attend meetings
- To be aware of and to understand the needs of children with trauma
- To understand the importance of maintaining a therapeutic and caring ethos
- To lead shifts and organise tasks

**Qualifications and Skills**
- QCF Level 3 Children and Young People / Workforce Diploma/ NVQ level 3 in residential childcare (or equivalent)
- Residential childcare experience is essential to this post
- Understanding of child development, parenting, the needs of children and a commitment to supporting children is essential.

**Responsibilities and Duties**
- To lead shifts and support the staff team
- To organise and prioritise day to day tasks
- To supervise staff with key work responsibilities
- To be part of the on call rota (paid at an additional rate) average 1-2 on calls per week.
- To provide day to day care for the children in our care
- To keep children safe and be committed to safeguarding
- To act as a parental figure and positive adult role model to help demonstrate healthy adult functioning.
- To be involved in all aspects of daily care and support for the children.
- To bring ideas and partake in activities, crafts, clubs, sports, hobbies and encourage the children to try new things.
- To be involved in the domestic routines associated with running a busy home - laundry, food preparation, shopping etc.
- To assist the management team in providing the highest possible standards of care, guidance, support and protection for the children and co-operate fully with colleagues in achieving these objectives whilst remembering the needs of the child are paramount.
- To be included on a work rota that provides staff cover at Right Trak on a shift basis. We are a 24/7 365 day job.
- To carry out any of the practical tasks outlined on individual job lists.
- Record keeping and administration as required.
- To be constantly vigilant on health and safety matters.
- Ensuring that the setting is kept clean, tidy and organised to provide a warm and homely environment.
- Attendance at staff meetings, and any other meeting as required.
- Attending and contributing to a regular supervision session by arrangement with the Registered Manager/Deputy Manager.
- To attend training as arranged as part of your individual development plan.
- To complete mandatory training and regulatory training as required by and provided by the organisation.
- Any other duties delegated by the Registered Manager/Deputy Manager. This is likely to include specific responsibilities for delegated tasks.
- To transport children to school, activities, health appointments and family contact.

**Salary**

**Good rates of pay**

**£28,560 (£12.00ph) - £29,600 (£12.50ph) depending on experience (salary includes 5 sleep in shifts per month)
- This will be increasing in April 2024.**

**Additional sleep in's are paid at £60 per sleep in shift**

**On call allowance (paid additionally)**

**Time and a half paid on bank Holidays.**

**Overtime**

**5.6 weeks holiday a year**
