To welcome all patients and staff within the department in a professional manner, making them feel comfortable and at ease and to direct them to the appropriate area. Answer telephone enquiries in an appropriate manner reporting information to patients, nursing staff and other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Maintain good written and verbal communication between all departments and outside agencies. Use the computerised patient management system (E-Camis) to access patient details, update information and make appointments.

Be responsible for the ordering of stock and to ensure adequate levels are maintained. Photocopy documents/notes as required. Locate, collate, file and store patients notes as appropriate. This may involve going to Medical Records and various departments to collect notes at short notice.

Organise workload in conjunction with other members of staff reporting any problems as necessary. Undertake training and professional development as identified in an annual performance review. Assist in the training of new members of staff. To have a smart appearance, ensuring that he/she adhere to the uniform policy of the Trust and remain bare below the elbow at all times.

These duties and responsibilities may be changed in accordance with the needs of the Directorate and in particular the post holder may be required to provide support to other areas within the department as required and to carry out any other relevant duties that may be requested.
