We are pleased to advertise a 12 month fixed term trust Grade Registrar post in Neurology.

NUH is the Regional Neuroscience Centre for the East Midlands and has very comprehensive Epilepsy, Movement Disorder, Dementia, and neuroinflammation services. This involves a wide range of subspecialty outpatient clinics in which we provide a full range of standard and advanced therapies and treat full spectrum of common, rare and complex neurology patients. This is in addition to wide cover of acute neurology in the east midlands as we provide care to complex acute neurology patients admitted on our neurology wards.

The role will provide comprehensive training and experience in the management of neurological disorders so that on completion the doctor will have good skills and expertise to manage patients with simple or complex neurological disorders within either district general or regional neurology services.

Main duties of the job

The post is designed to deliver the following roles:

- To attend and contribute to a range of supervised general neurology clinics as well as subspecialty clinics such as epilepsy, movement disorder, and multiple sclerosis.
- To deliver independent general neurology clinics supported by consultants.

Working for our organisation

The neurology department consists of 15 consultants working in various subspecialties, 12 neurology registrars working between Nottingham university hospitals and Royal Derby hospitals sites. We also have large number of very experienced specialty nurses working across various subspecialties.

The post holder will work mainly on NUH neurology ward and QMC neurology outpatient clinics but will also be part of the wider neurology team at NUH.

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria
- MRCP or equivalent qualification
- Full GMC registration and licence to practice

Desirable criteria
- Previous neurology experience

Experience

Essential criteria
- Sufficient Training in general neurology to allow independent (supported) clinical practice

Desirable criteria
- Participation in research

Communication and relationship skills

Essential criteria
- Demonstrate the Ability to work as part of a team
- Demonstrate the Ability to keep good medical records and communicate with other hospital departments
- Demonstrate the Ability to understand and communicate with patients and colleagues

Desirable criteria
- Demonstrate the Ability to undertake research projects and audit
- Demonstrate the Ability to undertake investigative, audit and research work outside immediate clinical responsibility

Planning and organisational skills

Essential criteria
- Demonstrate good organisation skills
- Demonstrate ability to organise own learning and time

Other requirements specific to the role

Essential criteria
- Demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication, as set out in the GMC’s Good Medical Practice (2013).
- If the Primary Medical Qualification including clinical contact was not carried out using English, applicants must have an academic IELTS score of at least 7.5 in each domain and overall, or demonstrate equivalence by providing evidence of English language skills

**Salary**: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
