Maintain an effective clinical learning environment through excellence in practice and assisting in service training and education to support all learners. Assist in the delivery of a structured, competency based induction and training programme for new staff to the clinical area ensuring a system of preceptorship and practice supervision and assessment is fully utilised. Liaise with other Trust educators and the Department of Professional Healthcare Education to deliver corporate and local educational objectives. Assist in the review and up-dating of competency training packs and assessment packs ensuring completion of specific measurable objectives.

Provide feedback on learner progression within programmes, collating evidence and providing support for individual educational action plans, working collaboratively with programme leads, assessors and practice supervisors. Be familiar with and assist with the implementation of the NMC standards of proficiencies for registered nurses, standards of proficiency for nursing associates and the educational requirements for the clinical area. Contribute to and deliver the trust education strategy. Attend clinical educator meetings with the Department of Professional Healthcare Education to ensure education practice is contemporary and Trust priorities are achieved.

Support and assist in the management of the delivery of corporate and mandatory training for all relevant staff : Preceptorship Apprenticeships Clinical Skills OSCE preparation training Work in conjunction with Ward /Departmental Managers and Matrons, coordinate and ensure the assessment of competence for staff as required for specific clinical skills and medical devices. Ensure a robust and accurate means of documentation and record-keeping of clinical training delivered or coordinated to provide evidence of compliance with Trust and CQC requirements. Assist the ward /departmental managers and link nurses / key trainers with the delivery of Trust-wide education and training initiatives/priorities as required including : Moving & Handling training and competence assessment End of Life Care Dementia awareness Blood transfusion assessment of competence Resuscitation training ANTT Medical Devices training for all high/very high risk devices within the clinical area Central Venous Catheters assessment of competence Suction Device assessment of competence Co-ordinate the implementation of teaching programmes, including identification and assessment of learning objectives. Facilitate shared learning, supervision and reflective skills development.

Maintain a safe working environment, ensuring high standards and safe practice are maintained by: Teaching staff to understand and accept their responsibilities e.g. environmental cleanliness, maintenance and use of all equipment within the clinical setting Assist ward/department manager in the investigation of incidents, accidents and complaints participating in corrective action via education and training Adhering to the guidelines of the Health & Safety at Work Act To be responsible for the continuing assessment of performance and the identification of development needs of team members by: Facilitating staff members to meet revalidation requirements. Actively participating in the collation of forecast demands for continuous professional development CPD
