**Lecturer Grade F**: £38,474 to £43,155 per annum
**Lecturer Grade G**: £44,414 to £52,841 per annum
**Senior Lecturer**: £54,421 to £57,723 per annum

Key Accountabilities You will have a PhD in a relevant field, a strong or developing publication record, and clearly defined research plans that will lead to internationally excellent publications You will have research expertise in any of the following areas: modern German culture(s) and their discourses and practices around cultural diversity and cultural change, from the disciplinary fields of Cultural Studies, History, Digital Humanities, Environmental Humanities, Translation Studies, Visual Culture, or Literary Studies. Your specialism should complement the multidisciplinary nature of German Studies and the profile of Modern Languages at Newcastle more generally
You will possess the experience and qualities needed to provide excellent teaching to both undergraduates and postgraduates, to undertake postgraduate supervision, and to make a dynamic contribution to the School, Faculty, university, and the wider community. An ability to contribute to postgraduate programme development (in the School as well as interdisciplinary) will be essential for an appointment at SL level You have gained leadership experience commensurate with your career stage and you are excited about developing your leadership skills in a friendly collaborative German section within a larger School of Modern Languages and the wider institutional context
The Person (Essential)
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Strong or developing publication record, and clearly defined research plans leading to internationally excellent publications that will contribute to the School’s submission to the Future Research Assessment Programme (FRAP). Ability to design and deliver research-led modules. Ability to frame their research agenda within Newcastle University’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Capacity to develop innovative approaches to the curriculum and to teaching delivery, and to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students. Ability both to work independently and effectively in a team. Ability to communicate complex information clearly and efficiently. Ability to take on administrative, pastoral, and - where appropriate - leadership roles within the School or the Faculty. Ability to contribute to language teaching in German.
