**More about the role**:
Governance Services is looking for an enthusiastic and committed professional to join the team to ensure that the Council’s democratic process runs efficiently in accordance with the Constitution and promotes the principles of openness and transparency. You will also be involved in administering appeals for School Admissions, School Transport and Exclusion Reviews.

Committee experience is essential, you will need to be well organised, have exceptional administrative and communication skills, good IT skills and can work well under pressure to support the governance of the whole Council in a range of activities including:

- Administering committee meetings and appeals
- Creating and publishing agendas and appeal packs
- Taking minutes and webcasting meetings
- Supporting Councillors and members of the public to be a part of the Council’s decision-making process including using technology to support virtual attendance
- Providing advice and guiding Members, parents and officers on governance processes

This is an exciting time to join the team following the election that took place in May 2023 and a new service plan having been developed to drive the service forward.

Central Bedfordshire Council supports flexible working which includes the opportunity to be primarily based at home, although there will be an expectation of attending and supporting Council meetings in person on a regular basis.
