Offering a range of services including pre and post contract management for all aspects of public and private sector construction and engineering projects, we work with a variety of clients from subcontractors, main contractors and employers / clients across all sectors from civil engineering, property development, new build developments with a big focus on gas and electrical utilities.

We are currently looking to recruit a HSE Advisor. You will support a number of projects to meet the requirements of the Safety and Environment Management systems. You will support site teams and managers by recognising hazards and seeking to minimise risks whilst creating, maintaining, and improving health, safety and environmental standards. You will champion HSE initiatives in the workplace whilst ensuring that legislation is adhered to. You will review and produce safe systems of work documentation including construction phase plans, risk assessment, method statements and other safety critical documentation.

While our Head Office is based in Cheshire, you will be based at home and will need to attend client sites in the Midlands, so a willingness to travel is essential, as is a full, clean UK driving licence.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Promote the value of occupational health at a project level.
- Provide consistent and accurate HSE advice to staff and customers
- Provide support to projects and Head Office on HSE initiatives.
- Provide support on HSE issues/problems.
- Produce project HSE statistics on a monthly basis, identify trends and take proactive action as necessary.
- Conduct project audits.
- Contribute to general communications at a project level.
- Deliver HSE training to staff and customers as necessary.
- Produce and communicate safety alerts following incidents to promote learning and prevention.
- Undertake timely investigations.
- Identify root causes.
- Produce safety alerts on concluding investigations and root case identification.
- Attend Head Office to support policy and procedure review and maintenance as necessary.
- Assist other company functions as required.
- Ensure company Directors are briefed on trends, incidents other pertinent information.

**Person Specification**

**Education and Qualifications**
- NEBOSH general or construction certificate - essential.
- CSCS Safety Professional card.
- EUSR (Gas).

**Personal Competencies and Skills**
- Extensive experience within a utilities (preferably Gas) environment.
- Effective communicator with strong presentation and report writing skills.
- Client facing experience.
- Analytical skills to interpret detailed information and regulations.
- High standard of written English.
- Ability to work to and meet tight deadlines.
- Good communication skills, including professional telephone manner.
- Ability to liaise with staff and operatives at all levels.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office package.
- Ability to work as a member of a team, but also capable of working alone.
- High quality standards, e.g. attention to detail.
- Ability to lead by/set a good example.
- A passion for HSE.
- Knowledge of Accident / investigation techniques.
- Ability to deliver training to staff and customers.
- Willingness to travel within the UK as necessary.
- Full clean UK driving licence.
