We have an exciting new vacancy for a Conference Research Executive within the Convention Bureau.

The role will work in the Manchester Convention Bureau and will support and contribute towards the sustained growth of conferences in Manchester by undertaking research and developing a robust conference pipeline. Identify, qualify, and develop potential conference leads which will help input into the team targets to attract and deliver new conferences into Manchester. Support the identification, recruitment, and client management of potential conference ambassadors and assist in driving new business opportunities to generate sales leads and bid opportunities.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- To support the delivery of the research programme within identified key academic and industry sectors as directed by the Business Tourism Strategy and to identify conference bidding opportunities within identified markets
- Ensure a continuous pipeline of sales leads generation, thereby contributing to bidding targets
- Help further develop leads generated by other national and local association members and ambassadors
- Help support the Manchester Ambassador Programme - to extend the identification, recruitment, and management of potential ambassadors
- Profile and prioritise academic faculties and research departments based on RAE scores, as well as researching academic press to investigate individual academic profiles
- Actively support the Business Tourism team in researching and acquiring new conference business and bid opportunities for Manchester through developing relationships
- To manage the investigation and development of new conference opportunities for Manchester by identifying gaps in the conference market that could be met by the establishment of a new conference
- Ensure all data management and client management is recorded and monitored appropriately utilising key client management and enquiry management systems
- Support the production of reports, marketing collateral and management information as required and appropriate to the projects and role
- Be prepared to occasionally work irregular hours, due to the timings of events for which for which time off in lieu can be granted

**About you**:

- Have knowledge of the conference sector
- Be confident and professional in working with clients and stakeholders
- Experience of undertaking in depth research projects
- Understand the impact of hosting conferences
- A self-starter, able to work using own initiatives and to a plan, work and deliver under pressure

**Skills Required**:

- Have strong research capabilities - web based, database and interview/meetings
- IT literate, with filing, archive, and data management skills
- Data and systems management experience
- Strong analytical and report writing skills
- Experience of undertaking in depth research projects
