London, United Kingdom Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust Full time

Are you a skilled and passionate midwife with an interest in digital transformation?

**The IM&T team have an exciting opportunity to join us**: we are looking for a Patient Portal Project Lead Midwife for a fixed term secondment 2 days a week for 6 months.

We are looking for a detail-oriented, organised midwife with excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communications skills. Ability and experience working in a multidisciplinary team is essential and previous experience in a digital role is desirable.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to broaden their skillset or is interested in developing their knowledge in the way digital technology is transforming healthcare.

In your supporting information please outline your experience in midwifery and digital technology, including any projects you have been part of, as well as your motivation for applying.

You will play a pivotal role in supporting the ongoing project to digitise maternity documentation, as well as providing an expert clinical view in respect to the scope, design, development, testing and implementation of the Trust’s Patient Portal.

You will collaborate across the multidisciplinary team including clinical staff and technical colleagues and take a user-centred design approach to optimising the maternity functionality within the Patient Portal.

You will work to ensure that the patient’s care and operational processes are enhanced, not compromised, by digitisation and will make a critical contribution to the Trust’s alignment with national policy and standards including the NHS Long Term Plan, and the Ockenden and Better Births reports.

You will have the ability to manage a project which requires working to deadlines whilst working with the Maternity leadership to support the implementation of and embed best practise with respect to clinical IT systems within the service. A primary principle for this role is to ensure that the clients care is not compromised as a result of the development and implementation of clinical IT systems.

Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust is a community focused provider of local and acute care, providing high quality services to over one million people living across the London boroughs of Lewisham, Greenwich and Bexley. With a turnover of around £700 million, we provide services at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich, University Hospital Lewisham and a range of community settings in Lewisham. We also provide some services at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup.

As an organisation, we’ve made significant improvements for patients and staff in the last two and-a-half years. This is reflected in our most recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection (from February 2020), which found improvements across the organisation and gave us an improved rating of “Good” in the Well-Led and Effective domains, in addition to the rating of “Good” that we had already achieved in the Caring domain. Our staff culture change programme has been key to the Trust’s improvement journey, as we’ve stabilised our workforce by reducing vacancy rates and improving staff retention. We’ve also significantly increased the representation of minority ethnic leaders across our clinical and corporate teams.
- Work collaboratively with Maternity clinical staff, non-clinical staff and service users to plan and implement the use of Patient Portal within Maternity
- Have the ability to manage a project which requires working to deadlines
- Have the ability and skills to support the development of online access and platforms for Patients to access
- Work with the Maternity leadership to support the implementation of and embed best practice with respect to the Patient Portal within the service. A primary principle for this role is to ensure that the client’s care is not compromised as a result of the development and implementation of the Patient Portal
- Demonstrate knowledge of clinical IT systems
- Be confident in using and demonstrating clinical IT systems in a variety of settings and on desktop and mobile formats
- Have the ability to work autonomously, by demonstrating self-motivation and creativity to improve the service
- Have excellent communication, writing, organisational and presentation skills
- Have the ability to effectively interact with multidisciplinary teams including doctors, other clinical personnel, administrative staff, peers and external partners
- Have the ability to manage several work priorities simultaneously
