About the role

Working as part of our highly collaborative HR team the role will report to the Head of Employee Relations and will be accountable for providing advice and guidance to managers on HR case issues, specifically in relation to the management of serious conduct matters, long term absence, capability, employee concerns and employee relations issues, including the management of suspensions and investigations.

Key Accountabilities:
Supporting and advising managers and HR colleagues on a range of HR case/ER issues including but not limited to; investigations, suspensions, disciplinary, capability, grievance, long term sickness, occupational health referrals and appeals. Specifically the incumbent will be accountable for:
- Managing a range of HR cases for start to end: tracking and monitoring the volume of cases, creating case metrics and key performance indicators, analysing trends to make recommendations, providing reports to the HR Operations Director and HRBPs, researching best practice as required and working collaboratively with HR colleagues.- Employee Relations Query Management: Providing HR support during formal meetings (in some instances). Acting as ‘Investigating Officer’ in complex casework where appropriate and, if there are grounds for considering disciplinary action. Gathering evidence, arranging and conducting investigation interviews and producing interview statements and reports- Analysing complex case issues and situations effectively, establishing the level of business risk and identifying the most appropriate approach- Ensuring HR cases are managed to a timely, balanced and appropriate conclusion in accordance with relevant employment law, regulatory requirements and commercial needs to help managers to make effective and balanced decisions.- Draft and checking complex case outcome letters when required- Accurately recording case outcomes on HR system and providing management information as required- Escalating relevant cases to Risk & Compliance for further advice on regulatory impacts (e.g. Conduct Rules and Fitness & Propriety)- Building case management capability in managers through coaching to support them in dealing with complex staffing issues- Liaising with employee representatives as appropriate- Support case process reviews and make recommendations for improvement- Prepare and deliver upskilling presentations/sessions on employee relations matters- Complete special projects where required- Proactively seeking to improve existing working practices and procedures, researching best practice as required and working collaboratively with colleagues from different HR teams
- Recent experience of managing and advising on HR cases- Experience of working in an FS regulatory environment- Strong knowledge of current UK employment legislation and relevant case law- Excellent written and verbal communication along with interpersonal and collaboration skills- Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to high quality work- Ability to influence without formal authority at all levels of organisations- Ability to build and maintain trust and credibility with stakeholders- Ability to present complex information in a clear and structured manner- Ability to act with high levels of autonomy- Demonstrate a pragmatic attitude and take responsibility for personal development and contributing to growth within the team
