The Chemistry Department at Lancaster University is seeking to appoint a full-time Departmental Administrator. The role provides strategic support to the Head of Department, the Management Group and the whole department in all aspects of administrative operational functions for Chemistry; alongside this the role holder leads the Professional Services administrative team ensuring compliance and adherence to processes; efficient and effective allocation of resources; review/improvement of service provisions at all levels. The Departmental Administrator is representative in departmental matters, at Faculty and University levels.

**ABOUT YOU**

You will:

- Be able to demonstrate experience of, or clear potential to, manage or lead a team of people to drive results and ensure effective change and continuous improvement.
- Be a self-motivated team player, with a commitment to professional development, for yourself and your team.
- Have experience of delivering high quality administration support.
- Be able to take the lead on departmental human resources activities such as recruitment, induction and contractual changes; finance administration including managing the budget and approving orders; and, meetings in the department.
- Be able to demonstrate competent IT skills and the ability to work with new systems and software in an evolving digital environment.

Chemistry is a busy teaching and research active Department. It is home to an ambitious and friendly group of around 25 Academic staff, with teams of Research and Professional Services (Administrative and Technical staff). The Department supports Undergraduate students and a thriving group of Masters and Postgraduate research students; with a wide range of research projects.

The start date is the 20th February 2023.
