About the role: Desktop Support Specialist

The Desktop Support Specialist will be a part of a global End User Services team. This role is an exciting role that is the front-line support for our employees. Being able to manage their expectations and provide positive outcomes is an essential part of this role. Also, you will be part of a broader infrastructure team. This role means not only addressing employee's individual technical needs but also working collaboratively with other IT teams. This cross-functional collaboration is assisting with local support, management of networking, telephony, and server (physical and VM) to accomplish various tasks to support these teams in your geographic location.

**Responsibilities**:

- Onsite and remote analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop problems for end-users, along with recommending and implementation of corrective solutions for systems
- Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot end-user systems, phones, and related hardware and software to meet desktop service levels
- Support for critical PC's, laptops, and tablets in a manufacturing 'Clean Room' environment.
- Collaborate and enable remote support for system engineering and networking teams as required.
- Assist in the maintenance and inventory of all equipment, consisting of but not limited to PCs, monitors, laptops, printers and other components
- Document and enter activities in ITSM platform and managing incidents proactively to resolution
- Work with great attention to detail and ability to work and support various IT processes
- On-call rotation is required as is infrequent travel to other Lumentum sites
- Site IT inventory management
- Site PR / PO management
- Act as local hands for remote infrastructure/network team to provide onsite support for server and network requests, physical power cycle, cabling, etc.
- Work closely with corporate IT team to coordinate the delivery of local infrastructure/network projects/initiatives
- Follow corporate IT standards and policies and ensure local IT compliance
- Assist with other duties as assigned.

What experience will allow you the greatest success in this role?
- Knowledge of PC and laptop hardware components (external and internal)
- Reliable/demonstrated written and verbal communication and customer service skills
- Knowledge or certifications with Windows workstation products and Microsoft Office suite
- Experience using remote tools to support remote end-users and systems
- Working knowledge of Tanium or similar OS deployment tools
- Working knowledge on at least one industry collaboration platform (Teams, RingCentral, Cisco, Zoom, etc.)
- General understanding of IT network and server technologies
- General knowledge/experience with server and network hardware support, racking, cabling, etc.
- Good knowledge of ITIL and familiar with Help Desk Software, ITIL certifications a plus and desired
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 kg of materials
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
