Imperial College’s Faculty of Medicine has ambitious plans to grow its online portfolio of educational programmes and activities over the next few years. With the establishment of a new Digital Education Office (DEO), we are offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Learning Designer to join our team to provide leadership in the design and development of online degree programmes, online short courses and open content specialisations within the Faculty of Medicine, and to champion best practice in all areas of digital learning design.

As a member of the DEO, you will work closely with our degree course academic teams to create engaging and impactful digital learning for our online degree programmes and online open content. You will lead on all stages of the development lifecycle from analysis to design, development and evaluation to maximise the quality of teaching, learning and assessment across the portfolio, making effective use of academic time and create the highest-quality student experience.

**Duties and responsibilities**:
The Senior Learning Designer will provide learning design leadership to the wider team on the design and development of online degrees and online open content. You will work closely with academic teams within the Faculty of Medicine, and in collaboration with our internal and external partners, including the Digital Media Lab to ensure our learners have a highly engaging and interactive student experience.

The role will involve working with academic course teams and education staff in the Faculty of Medicine, and with a team of creative digital learning professionals, The person in the role will provide guidance and advice in order to design and deliver the online courses in a timely manner and in line with quality standards shared within Imperial College.

The role will provide leadership on all stages of the project lifecycle, from initiation and analysis through design and development, and to delivery. The key elements of the role are:

- Design and development of online degrees
- Design and development of open online content
- Consultancy with internal and external stakeholders and partners
- Evaluation and quality assurance of all digital learning products

There will also be opportunities to engage with the wider college communities by participating in working groups and committees which focus on various aspects of university learning and teaching.

**Essential requirements**:

- A strong educational background (degree level or equivalent and/or relevant professional qualification) with demonstrable experience in learning design and/or digital pedagogy
- Experience of delivering online or blended projects to a high standard with mínimal supervision and to tight deadlines
- Previous experience in the higher education sector in a similar or related position(s), demonstrating evidence of personal development through involvement in a series of progressively demanding work roles
- Experience in managing key stakeholders when introducing new processes and procedures, coordinating internal activities and managing stakeholders’ expectations to meet deadlines
- Strong knowledge of sound pedagogy-based teaching and assessment methods, particularly in relation to digital learning, teaching and assessment
- Awareness of the major issues in digital education that affect both students and academic colleagues within the higher education landscape
- Demonstrable interest in the use of digital technology in education

This is a full-time and open-ended role. You will be based at the South Kensington Campus.
