**Vision and Purpose of Learning at the V&A**

Learning at the V&A fires imagination and fosters ingenuity for everyone, everywhere in a changing world. A forward thinking, energetic and collegial team activates the world’s leading collection of art, design and performance and dynamic creative networks to empower and enrich learners with design-led skills, knowledge and understanding for the 21st century and to promote thought leadership and active civic engagement through the value of culture and creativity for all. A responsive and relevant portfolio of activity strives to inspire current and future generations of artists, creatives, designers and innovators.

The Interpretation department sits within the Young V&A, Learning & National Programmes Division, playing an essential part in its mission to activate the V&A collections for its audiences. To this end the team has a broad remit comprising the development and delivery of innovative and inspiring interpretation across both permanent gallery projects and temporary exhibitions, at the heart of which text sits.

The main purpose of the role is to edit text for permanent galleries, exhibitions and displays across the V&A sites, ensuring the text is clearly written and intellectually accessible for the V&A’s audiences, in line with the museum’s text guidelines and interpretation strategy.

This is a fixed-term maternity cover contract. Sitting within the Interpretation team at the V&A and reporting to the Head of Interpretation, the interpretation editor will be required to work on individual projects in liaison with the team and other interpretation editors. We are looking for an enthusiastic editor with sound knowledge and experience, an astute eye for detail and a pro-active approach to work.

**Interviews will be taking place week commencing Monday 19 June.
