**Full time 37 hours per week**

**1 x Permanent position and 1 x Fixed Term Contract (1 year initially due to funding)**

**Based at Sadler Road, Winsford**

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Protection team at Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service. We are looking for Business Safety Advocates to work with local businesses to promote fire safety initiatives and help make Cheshire a safer place to work and visit.

As a Business Safety Advocate, you will be responsible for developing, generating and delivering Business Safety initiatives to our local business communities within Cheshire; working in partnership with outside agencies and other fire service personnel to support planned events - including presentations to business groups. You will support the delivery of planned campaigns and provide fire safety, business continuity and arson prevention advice to business owners and managers, by making visits to premises and through social media platforms.

You will assist the Business Safety Manager to co-ordinate activities, collate and record information collected during business fire safety visits and work with Protection colleagues where matters of concern are identified during business fire safety visits.

You must be able to demonstrate:

- An awareness of fire safety legislation
- Be proficient in IT (including Microsoft Suite)
- Ability to work on your own initiative
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
- Good written and verbal skills

We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, with the right personal skills, qualities and attributes, rather than those in particular roles or industries. You may have previous experience of working with the public and the private sector business community in a customer service, marketing, business development or partnership role for example.

You will have 5 GCSEs or equivalent (including English) at Grade C or above. Ideally, have a understanding of fire safety with a Level 3 Fire Safety qualification or be willing to work towards obtaining this qualification. An understanding of marketing platforms and an interest in delivering information through social media is desirable.

You must hold a full UK driving licence.

This is a fast paced environment requiring flexibility and a strong focus on team work, support and prioritisation in order to meet deadlines. You must be willing to work flexibly (including occasional evening and weekend work).
