The Rapid Response Liaison Psychiatry (RRLP) team is made up of Consultant Psychiatrists, Band 5 and 6 Mental Health Liaison Nurses as well as a Clinical Nurse Specialist and Team Leader.
Our primary aim is to provide a timely and effective response to new referrals we receive from Nottingham University Hospitals at the QMC and City Hospital sites for older adults.
We aim to support the care of patients referred from NUH to provide appropriate care and management advice and where appropriate onwards referrals to other services. The care provided often includes a longer term engagement with referrers, the patient, carers and families to promote recovery and prioritise safe and effective person centred care.
Rapid Response Liaison Psychiatry (RRLP) for Older People based at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham University Hospitals is offering an exciting opportunity for an organised, highly motivated and enthusiastic individual who has excellent communication skills, a flexible approach to work and is committed to working with older adults.
RRLP for older adults seeks to deliver a comprehensive, integrated liaison psychiatry service for people over the age of 65 within QMC and City Hospital. It provides a year round proactive supportive service to our acute colleagues to facilitate the best possible care to those presenting with mental health conditions ranging from functional to organic presentations.

Key features of the role are to work alongside members of the multidisciplinary team to:
- provide assessments, formulations, care plans and reviews for patients who are referred to the RRLP team
- provide advice on management and care for patients referred to the team
- make appropriate referrals to other teams where ongoing care may be required
- referral are received in respect of mood, self harm, suspected psychosis, delirium, dementia and other mental health presentations
A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.
