**Overview of project/ role**

The Job Holder’s primary purpose is to support the TfL Corporate Archives in enhancing access, both within the business and externally, to its collections.

The Job Holder will use their experience and expertise to develop and undertake an efficient cataloguing programme of both physical and digital material. The Job Holder will also develop existing metadata standards to improve discovery and use digital skills to improve cataloguing and catalogue efficiencies.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Support the Corporate Archivist in developing, reviewing and implementing cataloguing plans and determining cataloguing priorities.
- Continue development of the digital repository through acquisition, cataloguing, metadata review, preservation actions, and access actions.
- Investigate and implement processes and technologies such as coding and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to aid the acquisition and cataloguing of digital records.
- Undertake the format viability of digital records.
- Continual review and revision of house cataloguing standards and guidelines.
- Answer enquires and undertake searchroom duties as directed by the Corporate Archivist, e.g. where pressure of work on existing resources requires extra help.
- Assist in outreach work (e.g. preparation for exhibitions, giving presentations) as directed by the Corporate Archivist.

**Skills, Knowledge & Experience**
- Excellent professional understanding of archives and records management issues and relevant external standards ISAD(G); ISO 14721:2012; PREMIS, PD 5454:2012, BS EN 16893:2018.
- Knowledge of relevant guidance and codes of practice issued by The National Archives; the Information Commissioner’s Office; and other relevant sources.
- An awareness of information security and assurance issues.
- Post graduate archives and/or records management qualification or equivalent experience working in an Archives environment with enrolment on a post graduate archival studies programme.
- Ability to catalogue using CALM.
- Good communication and influencing skills with the ability to persuade in discussion.
- Prior use of Microsoft 365 products such as Teams, Yammer, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, One Drive, Stream, Sharepoint.
- Critical thinking and analysis.
- Workload planning and ability to think flexibly.
- Setting and adjusting priorities in a changing environment.
- Experience of working in an archives or records management service.
- Cataloguing varied collections.
- Using a digital preservation repository.
- Communicating complex or specialist requirements to non-archives professionals.
