An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead and develop our new duty team within our Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service within Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This new role of duty team leader will provide effective leadership to ensure the duty team functions effectively and safely within the service. You will be responsible for the day-to-day operational leadership of the CAMHS duty team ensuring any duty systems, pathways and protocols are in place and run effectively. You will also maintain an element of clinical practice, carrying out assessments and co-ordinate any care plans and therapeutic interventions for children, young people, and their parents or carer. This will include regular liaison and collaborative working with other agencies i.e., A&E, pediatric departments, children’s social care and education. You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, motivated and able to use your initiative in an environment which can often be busy, dynamic, and rewarding.

The role may require working weekends and evening and you will be expected to participate in the team leader/manager on call rota which includes out of hours.

The post holder will in conjunction with the CAMHS Service Manager and Team Leaders play a key operational role in the delivery of the Child and Adolescent Menial Health Service (CAMHS) across Blackpool. The post holder will provide effective leadership and clinical support including maintaining an element of clinical practice to ensure the duty team functions effectively within the service and meets its objectives.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire and offers a full range of District Hospital services and Community Health services to this population.

- Responsible for the day-to-day operational leadership of the CAMHS Duty team ensuring any duty systems are in place and run effectively.
- Provide strong and effective leadership to staff, providing support, advice, and supervision.
- Respond to day-to-day issues within the team to ensure these are resolved as swiftly as possible.
- To delegate aspects of the role to other members of the team, where appropriate whilst maintaining overall responsibility for teams’ delivery.
- Support the development of the team, ensuring the provision of regular caseload management and clinical supervision
- Maintain an element of clinical practice within the role. Carrying out the duty functions as required

Emotional Effort

Occasional conflict and emotional distress can be anticipated when negotiating and/or managing changes to clinical and operational ways of working.

Any breaches in confidentiality will be dealt with by the Trust’s Disciplinary Procedure and may result in dismissal.
