**Background.**

At WCA we are on a mission to create **connections, solutions and opportunities **which build stronger communities. We deliver a range of support and services to the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) organisations and groups across Wiltshire.

Our vision is to improve local lives by promoting positive social change. Our work includes organisational development support, driving quality across the sector and influencing local and regional developments creating opportunities for the VCS sector to grow and thrive.

Local infrastructure organisations (LIOs) like Wessex Community Action (WCA) help communities meet their needs and achieve their aspirations, making places anyone would want to live, work and visit.

WCA have identified four broad missions of local infrastructure. These are the functions we think are needed in each place, to support a thriving voluntary and community sector.

**Leadership and advocacy **- we have seen the importance of strong clear leadership to make the best of a local VCS through Covid. The leadership and advocacy role played is fundamental. Note that we are not seeing representation or voice as the key function, rather leadership and advocacy to enable others to also have influence.

**Community Development /Practical support **- covers a wide range of activity from training to community development work and informal advice and support.

**Volunteering** - volunteers are at the heart of our work and those we support. The function is wide ranging, from developing good volunteer programmes, to providing brokerage and stimulating employee volunteering.

**Partnerships and collaborations **- at both strategic and operational level. WCA aspiration is to bring partners together to make decisions, work together, provide services, listen to communities and are key to fostering relationships for the benefit of the local communities.

This post will be instrumental in supporting the realisation of our mission and vision by ensuring technology supports all aspects of our work from our community platform Wiltshire Together, to our own website and specifically designed CRM system.

**Digital & IT Officer Role and responsibilities**
- To **analyse **the charities digital technology needs and architecture to recommend changes to existing processes, software, and equipment to improve efficiency where needed.
- **Design** and **implement** improved processes to ensure more effective co-operation (including on-line collaborative spaces, tools for communication, tools for data collection), as far as possible using existing IT provision.
- To work with the whole team to increase the potential reach and impact of the charity’s online presence, **recommending **and **implementing** digital marketing initiatives and technical changes to improve profile and engagement.
- To provide **expert** technical support, training, and advice to core staff to help them use existing and new software to support delivery of the business plan.
- **Manage** administrative services for existing or new IT systems, most likely through liaison with a third party.
- **Plan **and execute IT projects as part of the charity’s IT annual strategy.
- **Drive **the team in the development of our CRM system.
- Set up new IT equipment including laptops and software
- Become the “go to” person for any IT, CRM or marketing questions

**Nominated Individual for Wiltshire Together**
- Further the dynamic development of Wiltshire Together platform.
- Develop a good understanding of current and future functionality identifying opportunities for platform development including under-utilised areas.
- Approve new members to the platform and quality assure records & content in line with agreed protocols.
- Design and facilitate training sessions to explain the functionality of the platform Undertake approval of new Family Help content on to the platform working with external partners within FACT.
- Provide quantitative & qualitative reports to the FACT Programme Lead & Family Help Steering Group.
- Lead on the communication with Wiltshire Together members & relevant organisations.
- Seek out opportunities to promote the platform to potential members, families and communities.
- Initiate and manage the promotional activity both digitally (using social media and other channels) and in person.
- Identify and promote appropriate links to other directories and resources and, where appropriate, migrate content from other sites and databases in line with agreed protocols.
- Identify potential funding opportunities for further development and sustainability of the platform supporting the submission of funding bids as required.
