Clinical Coding Assistant

Wakefield, United Kingdom Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust Full time

We are looking to recruit a Clinical Coding Assistant to support the team in delivering accurate and timely data for the Trusts clinical and business requirements and for Regional and National Health Service statistics.

We are looking for a conscientious team player who also has the ability to work independently. You will be comfortable working to strict deadlines and committed to producing work of a high standard.

The role of the coding assistant is crucial for the efficient running of the department; a major part of this role involves maintaining a continual flow of work into the department through the collection of medical records from wards and distribution to the coding team.

The post holder will take a lead role in the location of patient information needed for clinical coding deadlines.

A vast part of the day will be spent visiting wards and departments therefore good verbal communication skills and a professional image are essential for this role.

You will work closely with clinicians and other healthcare professionals on a day to day basis to arrange for case notes to be reviewed for clinical coding purposes.

You will also assist the coders by locating and retrieving case notes using the Hospital File Tracker System and by accessing information electronically from clinical information systems.
