An exciting opportunityhas arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated OH clinic nurse to join our Occupational Health & Wellbeing Servicebased at Fieldhead Hospital Wakefield

The service is nurse led by the Head of Occupational Health &Wellbeing and you will be part of a an MDT which includes the followingspecialities, occupational health Advisors, Occupational Therapist, RegisteredMental Health nurse, Physiotherapists, MSK specialist, counsellors and Health & Wellbeing Practitioners. Therole will require travel to satellite clinics across a number of Trust sitesincluding Barnsley, Huddersfield, Halifax, , Bradford and Leeds.

The successful candidate willdeliver immunisations, venepuncture, clearance for work health assessments andprovide support to the OH advice line.

The successful candidate will needexcellent communication/ interpersonal skills and be able to work independentlyand part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible forundertaking clinics to include assessing a staff members immunisation historyagainst local and national guidance for healthcare workers, providing requiredvaccinations and taking necessary blood tests.

You will review any bloodtests to determine appropriate follow-up actions.

You will be responsible formaintaining records in relation to the cold chain of the vaccinations withinthe department.

You will keep accuratecomputer records.

You will communicatewith various disciplines across the organisations we support.

Job responsibilities

To participateand assist in the provision of high quality occupational health services forall staff within the Trust and to externalcontracts, ensuring compliance with relevant Health Service Guidelines, The Green Book, local standard operating procedures, Occupational Health &Trust policies & procedures.

This role willrequire travel to all of the Trust sites and to external client premises. Thisincludes Huddersfield, Halifax, Barnsley, Leeds and Bradford.

Workwith colleagues within OH&WS to deliver a professional service againstagreed local and national standards.Todeliver ahigh quality vaccination service, work health assessments and coveringthe service helpline.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nurse Level 1. Current NMC registration.

Desirable

Experience gained within a busy, customer focused department. Experience of liaising with customers on a daily basis and the ability to handle difficult situations.

Special Knowledge/Skills

Essential

Aware of own limitations. Aware of the current NHS initiatives including the NHS People Plan. Insight into clinical speciality. Insight into current issues in nursing/ professional issues. Standards of professional practice. Ability to analyse health problems and to develop practical and workable solutions to address them. Well-developed clinical and health influencing skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals in their health management. Ability to collaborate constructively with internal and external partners to create conditions for successful partnership working. Demonstrates achievements in managing change. Strong team working skills. Able to work collaboratively with other disciplines. Ability to actively support the strategic direction of the service.

Desirable

Experience of participating in clinical governance initiatives. SEQOSH accreditation process.

Essential

Ability to undertake the duties and demands of the post. A satisfactory sickness record over the previous 2 years (subject to the need to act with fairness and equality of opportunity, particularly where the sickness is related to a disability and/or pregnancy).

Experience

Essential

Excellent organisational skills. Demonstrable experience of managing competing demands in a pressurised environment. Excellent communication skills. IT literate be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to develop innovative ideas into successful service improvements. The ability to provide effective solutions to problems. Must be committed to delivering exceptional customer service. The ability to provide health promotion messaging to wide audiences.

Able to think creatively and innovatively. Ability to adapt to change within working situation.

Training

Essential

Evidence of recent CPD. Significant post registration, nursing experience.

Desirable

Venepuncture experience. Immunisation experience. Previous work within OH setting. Experience of Cohort database.
