**Job Purpose**
As an integral member of both the School's Leadership Team and the College Administrative Management Group, the post holder will play a lead role in the successful implementation and delivery of the College and School's strategy, policies, and objectives, in order to fully achieve key University/College/School goals and deliver improvements evidenced by internal and external measures. The post holder will make significant contributions to shaping the long-term strategic direction of the School/College/University, in partnership with senior leaders.

The post is accountable to the College Director of Professional Services, with day-to-day responsibility to the Head of School. In addition to the general leadership contributions above, the post is responsible for all professional support services including learning and teaching, research, and operational support. This includes line management responsibility, direct and indirect, for all professional/administrative, technical and operational staff within the School. This will involve setting and monitoring appropriate operating models and services standards, across a wide range of activities, including ensuring appropriate integration with wider College and University services. The post holder will provide significant leadership to determine and deliver the long-term structure of professional services within the School, aligned to and contributing to College/University level changes as appropriate. The postholder will also be responsible for the shaping and enacting effective partnership and compliance with various internal and external parties, including the NHS, commercial organisations and various accreditation boards, anticipating and complying with various regulatory, procedural and policy requirements where these have a substantial impact on the functioning of the School.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- Work in partnership with the Head of School, as a member of the School Leadership Team, to implement and deliver the School strategy in line with the College and University's strategic objectives, KPIs and targets, including playing a key role in coordinating and influencing the strategic planning process. In partnership with the Head of School, lead the strategic planning process and will assume lead responsibility for implementation of significant work streams, ideally including partnering on matters of learning and teaching, research/scientific strategy and planning.
- Make significant contributions to the strategic development of internal and external School partnerships through influencing joint strategy development and leading significant partnership initiatives.
- Manage and develop the professional/administrative, operational and technical support functions and structures in the School to secure effective delivery of the School's priorities and ensure KPI target delivery. The role will provide significant leadership in resource planning to determine and deliver the long-term structure of professional services within the School, aligned to and contributing to College/University level changes as appropriate.
- In conjunction with the Head of School and School Leadership Team, partner with College and University Professional Services Teams to ensure School compliance with, and understanding of, relevant legislation, policies, processes and requirements. This will include partnering with College Finance to manage and implement the School's financial strategy and operational delivery, and the College People and OD team on both strategic and operational HR matters.
- Ensuring the quality of professional support for education provision including the undergraduate medical, dental and nursing curriculum and postgraduate provision, and ensuring compliance with General Medical Council, the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the General Dental Council standards, including Fitness to Practise.
- Engage the School Leadership Team, and act with their delegated authority as agreed, to improve School business and league table performance. Such efforts will include organising and analysing relevant external information from relevant authorities and benchmarking sources. This will extent to long term leadership for assigned business improvement areas.
- Lead horizon scanning for the School to future proof performance sustainability within an increasingly competitive HE environment. This will involve regular reporting on potential changes to the operating model and strategic positioning of the School, for School and College consideration.
- Develop, with Head of School and senior academic colleagues, external engagement opportunities including partnerships and networks to enhance reputation at local, national and international levels.
