**About The Role**

The London Borough of Hounslow’s Transport Co-ordination service is looking for Specialist Attendants for 12 hours per week split shift (am and pm). There is an opportunity to work additional hours.

You will work as part of our Transport Team primarily assisting and caring for children and young people with complex medical needs on their journey to/from school to various destinations, within and outside of the Borough.

**You must**:

- Be confident and possess the ability to provide medical assistance and deal with emergency medical situations in a calm and positive matter.
- Have the ability and be willing to be trained in various aspects of medical support eg. suction, oxygen etc.
- Have a caring and friendly personality.
- Be physically fit (to manoeuvre wheelchairs and fit clamps in confined spaces).
- Be able to use a road map.
- Possess a good level of spoken English and good communication skills (communication with children/young people, schools, parents, work colleagues and emergency services).

**Key Responsibilities**:
1.Providing support to children/young people with complex medical needs (training provided)

2.Includes providing in some cases suction and oxygen support (training provided)

3.Completing relevant documentation and completing simple daily reports

4.Ensuring consistent communication between parent/school/transport office.

**Your Skills**:
1.Good communications skills (especially verbal and recording/reporting details).

2.Confidence and ability to be trained and perform in supporting children/young people with complex medical needs.

3.Good attention to detail.

4.Demonstrating support, understanding and empathy during the journey to/from school.

**Professional Qualifications**:
1.An NVQ in healthcare or experience of supporting children/young people/adults who require additional care would be an advantage.

2.Enhanced DBS check is required.
