We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to provide 1-to-1 support for a child with autism in Year 6 at a primary school. The child is 10 years old and requires full-time 1-to-1 support to effectively participate in the classroom environment.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide 1-to-1 support to the child with autism throughout the school day
- Assist the child in accessing the curriculum, adapting materials as needed
- Help with academic tasks such as reading, writing, and numeracy
- Support the child in managing challenging behaviours, such as overwhelming reactions to loud noises or attempts to run away
- Implement behaviour management strategies and interventions as directed by the teacher or SENCO
- Establish and maintain a positive and supportive relationship with the child
- Collaborate with the teacher and other professionals to implement individualized plans to address the child's specific needs and goals

Qualifications and Experience:

- Experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with children with autism
- Familiarity with strategies for supporting children with challenging behaviours
- Knowledge of autism and its impact on learning and behaviour
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to the child's individual needs
- Relevant qualifications and certifications in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, Autism Awareness, or similar would be advantageous
