**Role purpose**:
To work within agreed processes to ensure all client and customer financial operation needs are met including the following activity:

- Payment allocation
- Account and nominal reconciliation
- Financial control
- Key nominal and account reporting as per client requirements

**Key accountabilities**:

- Daily reconciliation of administered bank accounts evidencing financial control to internal and external clients and stakeholders and ensuring accurate group and external portfolio accounting.
- Daily reconciliation and clear down of all suspense and intercompany balances on all to facilitate correct portfolio accounting.
- Daily reconciliation and breakdown of all transactions for each administered mortgage portfolio to support cost and income analysis.
- Develop, manage and maintain (in line with client standardised processes and templates) reconciliations for key ledger nominal, for example unidentified cash, to ensure compliance and robust financial control.
- Preparation, validation and submission of monthly mortgage portfolio financial MI to all internal and external lenders, auditors and other stakeholders, all submissions to be made within strict SLA timeframes.
- Reviewing incoming standing orders, DSS & Unpaid Direct Debits exceptions prior to allocation to a customer account.
- Reconciliation and prompt settlement of insurer commissions, solicitor and agent invoices
- Allocation and, where necessary, banking of all incoming customer payments (including redemption payments) on a daily basis, ensuring customer account accuracy and accurate financial accounting.
- Validate and post customer account and nominal data entry generated by both operational (customer facing) and internal finance team to ensure customer account accuracy and accurate financial accounting.
- Respond to and resolve incoming customer account and nominal transaction queries received from Operational Arrears, Mortgage Operations, Banks and other group stakeholders to ensure customer account accuracy and accurate financial accounting.
- Input and approval (within mandated levels) of internal & external payment transmissions into banking system, ensuring outgoing customer payments are made in a timely fashion in line with agreed SLA’s.
- To help in driving efficiency and best practice within the team.
- To assist in ad-hoc project work impacting the operational finance area.

**Technical capabilities**:

- In depth knowledge of payment processes, procedures and payment schemes; relating to BACS, Faster Payments, Cheque and Credit clearing, CHAPS, Overseas transactions.
- Expert knowledge of the regulatory requirements and rules that govern the function to ensure compliance is maintained.
- Strong knowledge of the UK Payments sector, competitor activity, market developments, regulatory regime and emerging market trends.
- Well-developed networking, communication and influencing skills to manage relationships and understand key issues.
- Makes decisions in relation to technical / operational areas and activities carried out within guidelines and broader procedures with freedom in determining workload and priorities.

- Proven ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure
- Computer literacy including strong Excel skills
