**Work Pattern**

This post will be hybrid involving two days a week based out of our Lenzie office with the requirement for travel across Scotland and some remote working. The option to condense hours will be positively considered.

**Background**

Deafblind Scotland is the specialist charity working with adults living with dual sensory loss. Our ambitions are high for members and we are therefore at the forefront of finding ways to support people to lead their most meaningful life.

Deafblindness can be a devastating condition that can make daily life extremely challenging and as a result, many people with dual sensory loss become isolated. Our services can make a vital difference to their lives; enabling people to regain confidence, gain vital communication skills and re-establish social connections. Some people may acquire the loss of both senses where others may be born Deaf or with sight loss and lose the other sense as they move through adult life caused by conditions such as Ushers Syndrome or age related conditions such as Glaucoma.

**Purpose of Job**

The Project Co-ordinator will work across several programme areas and support the Programme Leads to plan, implement and evaluate programme activities in line with our mission to champion the rights of people living with deafblindness. This role involves working alongside deafblind people to facilitate their engagement, promoting a culture of empowerment and peer leadership. Working as part of a dynamic team, the role involves liaising with a range of stakeholders, delivering evidence-based monitoring and evaluation reports and co-producing and facilitating training events.

**Person Specification**

The applicant will have:
Essential
- Experience of developing projects and achieving project objectives
- Excellent written verbal, communication and report writing skills
- A professional and flexible attitude
- Good people skills and the ability to demonstrate an assured, person-centred approach
- Ability to work to deadline and balance competing priorities
- Ability to organise time effectively and work on to own initiative
- A willingness to travel across Scotland

Desirable
- British Sign Language Level 1, or the desire to undertake training
- Experience working with people with sensory loss
- A valid driving licence
- Experience working in an enabling role with people with a disability

**Key Responsibilities**
- Contributing to the development of projects and achieving agreed objectives.
- Supporting deafblind people to shape the development of existing and future projects and finding creative ways to build peer leadership opportunities.
- Supporting and maximising the participation of deafblind people in appropriate activities using a strength-based approach.
- Working collaboratively alongside colleagues to maximise the impact of each project.
- Developing and maintaining partnerships with Public Sector and other external agencies and maximising opportunities for strategic collaborations.
- Maintaining accessible project publicity, information, literature and social media presence.
- Co-ordinating the day-to-day activities of the projects as agreed with programme lead.
- Understanding the policy landscape in Scotland, including health and social care policy, relevant to progress individual projects.
- Contributing to the recording, monitoring and reporting on project outcomes for appropriate committees, stakeholders and funders.
- Reporting to line manager and preparing activity reports on a regular basis.
- Any other duties as required by line manager or member of Senior Management Team.
