This 12-month fixed-term position is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience at the beginning of your conservation career.

The role encompasses a range of diverse habitats and sites across West Sussex from woodland, heathland and chalk downland to sand dunes, vegetated shingle and salt marsh.

**Interviews for this role will be held on the 28th of February.**

What it's like to work here:The National Trust South Downs Central team based at Slindon cover over 6000 hectares of woodland, mixed agricultural land, heathland, downland, sand dunes and salt marsh habitat. Split between the South Downs National Park and Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our patch stretches from Storrington in the East, Kirdford and Plaistow in the North to East Head and Bosham in the South. The Ranger team are passionate about the sites, managing the habitats and heritage features for wildlife and visitors.

There is lots of habitat management work to get stuck into; coppicing, forestry, scrub clearance, protecting ground-nesting birds and conducting biological monitoring. The way we engage with visitors is important to get across our vital conservation messages and why our work is needed.

We are looking for a motivated individual who is passionate about the coast, countryside, wildlife and heritage. You should be familiar with the values of the National Trust and how they relate to the work we do. You'll need to be able to work alone as well as part of a team.
