This role is part of the Wiltshire Project which provides individual and family support to domestic abuse victims and their children.

A Complex Needs DASA specialising in the unique needs of complex or harder to reach groups, including but not limited to, substance misuse, offending history, homelessness and mental health difficulties.

Additional knowledge and responsibilities, including:

- Supporting complex cases and having an understanding of their additional needs
- Have additional knowledge of relevant complimentary services.
- Support and advocate for service user to access other relevant services for their needs.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with additional services relevant to this field.
- Ensure services and resources are appropriate and tailored to services users needs.

Working within the family support team, you will work directly with victims of domestic abuse, providing them with support and educational sessions to increase the safety of the individual victim and their children.

Offering support to victims of domestic abuse, key tasks will include:

- To provide high quality, whole family approach to support adult victims and their families who are experiencing domestic abuse.
- Support and enable service users to increase their safety and make positive choices for the future.
- Undertaking risk assessments and implementing robust safety management plans.
- Give practical and emotional support to families who are experiencing domestic abuse in the community.

In addition, you will work closely with Social Workers to increase the safety and stabilisation of children, by offering specialist domestic abuse educational sessions to the non-abusing parent.

This role will be based in our Trowbridge office, but hybrid working is supported.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**
- Manage a caseload of assessed clients through telephone and face to face support.
- To deliver group work provision for victims of domestic abuse, following a planned programme.
- Complete an initial assessment of individuals’ and families' needs so that you can identify and plan the support needed to address issues and prevent any problems from escalating.
- Undertake regular caseload review meetings with individuals and families during home and community visits to ensure they are fully supported to progress and achieve desired outcomes.
- Attend regular meetings with Children’s Social Care and offer professional consultation to Social Workers regarding domestic abuse cases.
- Assess, manage, and review risks to service users, colleagues and self, including the use of the SafeLives DASH Risk Assessment, and professional judgement.
- Assess the needs of the service users and devise appropriate support and safety plans for people in the community with due regard to the dynamic nature of risk.
- Attend child protection conferences and core groups, offering your professional perspective and provide written reports for Child Protection proceedings.
- Work with colleagues, health and social care professionals and multi-agency networks to evaluate caseload needs and the progress that has been made.
- Improve parents' understanding of the impact of Domestic Abuse on their child and work with the parent to provide continued support to their child.
- Ensure personal safety and that of service users and other staff at all times.
- Respond to emergencies and crises including access to places of safety.
- Plan and implement activities to promote self-awareness, confidence and participation for service users.
- Enable service users to participate in the design, delivery and evaluation of services.
- Utilise evaluation and monitoring systems to ensure high standards of service are consistently achieved e.g. Insights and Orchards Database.
- Assist clients in attending legal and other appointments where necessary.
- Ensure support provided is accessible to clients in terms of location and times.

**Groups and Activities**
- Focus on assisting clients and their families to reduce social isolation by connecting them to local community facilities, activities and groups.
- Assist with recruiting clients to be involved in the development of groups or activities or groups, providing them with on-going support.
- Run groups for victims of domestic abuse, following a planned programme.

**General**
- Work at all times in accordance with the requirements of the Lone Working Policy and Procedure.
- Attend and contribute to team meetings.
- Update written and computerised records with accurate and clear information.
- Contribute to effective team working with a flexible and pro-active approach, including cover for other team members’ holidays and sickness.
- Undertake agreed training and keep updated on changes in legislation, policy and best practice.
