We are seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant skilled in working with students with social and emotional needs linked to their SEND. You will join our team of dedicated learning support specialists, and work alongside teaching staff and other professionals under the direction of the Head of Learning Support.

**Salary: £20,678 to £21,719 (actual salary prorated for term time working £16,676 to £17,515) ** depending on experience and qualifications.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Job Title**:Learning Support Assistant

**Reports to**:Head of Learning Support

**Staff Supervised**:None. May work alongside Resident Graduates.

**Key Contacts and Relationships**:
The Head of Learning Support and all staff and students at the Senior School.

**Overall Purpose**:
You will promote the inclusion of all students with learning differences by providing support for teaching and personalised learning. You will work with individuals and small groups by providing educational, emotional and, where appropriate, physical support to students to ensure their well-being and development, whilst respecting the Quaker ethos of the School.

You will work alongside teaching staff and other professionals to support the learning process under the direction of the Head of Learning Support.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide educational support to both individuals and groups of students in Schoolrooms (Yrs 7-9) and Seniors (Yrs 10 and 11) primarily through supporting lessons.
- Establish positive working relationships with students and staff.
- Adapt and customize curriculum materials and use own initiative to produce resources in an imaginative and creative way, on time and to the standards required
- Contribute to the implementation of Learning Support Plans for specific students with LDD.
- To support differentiation of tasks to enable students with LDD to fully access the lesson.
- Support students’ access to learning through the effective use of ICT.
- Participate in training and other learning activities to develop reflective practice.
- Help to identify and remove barriers to students’ learning so that they can become independent, cooperative learners.
- To act as a mentor for students who need emotional support.
- To provide feedback on student progress in order to support inclusive teaching and learning
- Participate in staff meetings where appropriate.
- Support students with learning differences or disabilities to access extended school activities e.g. educational visits and trips where needed
- Liaise sensitively with parents as agreed and participate in feedback meetings where appropriate.

**Knowledge required in the role**:

- Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
- Level 3 qualification for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualifications and experience.
- Knowledge of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and different strategies to support SEN/LDD in the mainstream classroom with particular emphasis on children on the autistic spectrum
- Knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice (2014).
- Skills and Competencies required in the role:

- Confident communicator who works well with colleagues and other professionals to ensure the well-being of students.
- Highly motivated to work with children and young people.
- Fully understands the need to safeguard the welfare of students with learning differences.
- Possesses an approachable and caring manner.
- Shows initiative, caring and a responsible attitude to the use of authority and discipline in line with the Quaker ethos of the school.
- Acts as a champion for children with learning differences.

**Hours of work**:
Term time only. 37.5 hours weekly, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday mornings, if required, for which time off in lieu will be given.

**Salary**:£20,678 to £21,719 **(prorated for term time working £16,676 to £17,515**)depending on experience and qualifications.
