As a Cardiac Investigations department in a tertiary centre we provide a full range of non-invasive and invasive procedures. Investigations include transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography, ambulatory monitoring, ECGs, device follow up, exercise tolerance tests, and tilt tests.

These services are offered at University Hospital in Coventry, St Cross Hospital in Rugby and the Diagnostic Hub, based in the City of Coventry Healthcare Centre.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Department of Cardiac Investigations (DCI) Assistant to join our friendly, energetic team, to support the delivery of high quality cardiology services across all sites. The DCI Assistant will work under close supervision of either a Cardiac Physiologist and/or Cardiographer. Your main duties will include preparation of the patient for the test, providing instructions, stock control and general housekeeping duties for the Department of Cardiac Investigations.

You may have previous experience within the healthcare setting but as training and support will be provided, this is not essential. You will however, have experience with dealing with the general public in some form and be committed to high standards of patient care and personal professional development. You will also be kind, caring and supportive who loves helping others.

To ensure tests are performed in accordance with protocols and that data is accurately documented and processed in a timely manner.

To have knowledge and understanding of the investigation and without supervision, provide support and reassurance as appropriate to patients of all ages and conditions.

To be able to perform basic life support and to be able to work in occasionally unpleasant and stressful working conditions, and be able to perform occasional moderate physical effort for short period during the shift including the movement of patients and heavy diagnostic equipment.

To measure non-invasive blood pressure at rest and document the data appropriately.

To understand the significance of results of BP recording and to liaise with Cardiac Physiologists should the need arise.

To measure both patients height and weight and document data in the appropriate database.

To be able to access relevant patient data from a database, ensuring patient confidentiality and the Trust policy for data protection is adhered to.

To ensure working practice adheres to Trust policy for service delivery providing support and where appropriate advice to patients whilst in the Department of Cardiac Investigations.
