Medtronic must be positioned to educate the organisations commissioning care so as they direct patients to the care facility with best outcome and optimal cost to treat. In 2022, through the Health and Care Act, 42 Integrated Care Systems were formalised as legal entities in England to commission care in their given geography. Their priorities have been to meet financial targets, improve population health and to make savings.
ICSs have matured at different rates. Mature ICSs are more collaborative, focusing on care pathways, technology & estates to make savings, principles that align well with our Enterprise Accounts organisation. Other ICS need help to mature, and follow more traditional approaches, such as price optimisation projects. As the Integrated Care Systems Business Development Manager, you will support the transition of transitional ICSs to strategic, embedding Medtronic as their future partner of choice. This is a field-based role and travel is expected to be ~60% of the working week.
**A Day in the Life**
- Work with our Operating Units (OU) to understand any plans to cultivate the hospitals within transactional Integrated Care Systems (ICSs).
- Familiarize yourself with our OU price offerings and pan-MDT commercial programs such as MedPoints, and how to access them.
- Own cross-OU discussions and proactively make recommendations that will help leverage the breadth of the Medtronic portfolio.
- Develop influence over key ICS decision makers & budget holders to understand where the opportunities are.
- Seek long term contracts that address the opportunities and optimise the price paid/technology chosen by the ICS.
- Seek to uncover and realise purchase to pay efficiencies from fragmented procurement approaches within the ICS.
- Prepare the account for the realisation that their savings targets cannot be met through transactional relationships and recommend maturing ICSs to join the Enterprise Accounts Program.
- Develop & circulate a maturity index to overview the readiness of transactional ICSs for strategic work, to include an agreed number of maturity indicators.
**Must Haves**
- An understanding of NHSSC Frameworks & the procurement partners operating within the UK
- Experience of working within the NHS on price optimisation projects
- Knowledge of Medtronic’s analytical & pricing tools
- Proactive, clear, and concise verbal and written communication skills
- A degree level education

- A background in strategic pricing
