Research Data Officer

The main responsibility of this role is to gather data and report metrics on all research activity at RCHT while supporting the wider R&D Team with effective reporting and EDGE management. The post holder will continually audit the EDGE system for accuracy and data cleansing and will support with training of new EDGE users as well as providing updates and communications on effective ways of using the system. Although this is a stand-alone role, the post holder will be part of the wider data team and will be responsible for the continual management and upkeep of the EDGE system, working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure an efficient service whilst always working to currently regulatory guidance and Trust Policies and standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
**Primary Responsibilities**:
EDGE
Oversee the management, upkeep and accuracy of the data on EDGE.
Working with key internal and external stakeholders
Reviewing, reporting, and resolving any inaccuracies
Carrying out monthly data reviews and audits to ensure that the information is accurate and up to date
Putting in place appropriate actions to resolve discrepancies and following up until fully concluded.
Management of access rights
Creating reports and downloading data from EDGE
Completion of self-audits of projects and processes
Preparing the appropriate data and information required to update the monthly performance reports
Preparation of the Monthly Performance Report (MPR) utilising the data captured in EDGE
Attending appropriate meetings as and when required.
Managing and maintaining the EDGE shared account
Attend regular EDGE meetings and annual conferences to maintain an awareness of updates, changes, best working practices and latest advancements in the system.
**NIHR Open Data Platform (ODP)**:
Understanding how to access and navigate ODP to access the relevant data.
Highlighting and resolving any discrepancies between ODP and EDGE
Ensuring that any missing data is updated to ensure a complete record is maintained at all times.

Finance
On occasion, there may be a requirement to support with the upload of information onto the R&D financial system, RADICO.
Under the direction of the IOM, this will include, ensuring the accurate and timely financial data upload to RADICO (internal finance system), working closely with the research data officers.
Identifying any missing information from RADICO and putting into place the necessary actions to rectify and amend.
Supporting the IOM and research data officers with RADICO as and when necessary, overseeing and monitoring for accuracy
Other
Taking minutes of meetings as and when required
Ability to prioritise and attend departmental meetings and huddles as required.
Participating in regular meetings and co-ordinating, actioning or implementing any processes as directed by the Senior Management Team
Prioritising workloads when frequently interrupted.
Assisting teams in preparation of accurate study reports and presentations
General clerical office management duties as needs arise, including providing occasional cover for other research teams within the Trust.
