This is a new and exciting role that sits within the recently established Good Growth Coordination Team. Our work across Good Growth covers Economic Development, Transport, Culture and Creative Industries, Regeneration, Planning and the Environmentto name but a few.
You will play a crucial role in helping the GLA's biggest directorate to achieve its strategic objectives and will perform an important role in leading and governing policymaking practice across the Good Growth directorate. Acting as internal consultant across a large directorate, it’s stakeholder groups and external partners, you will provide dedicated in-house support to units and policy teams whilst improving collaboration in policy and aiding better alignment and integration of strategy.
As the Principal Policy and Programme Officer - Collaboration and Innovation you will help shape good practice around policymaking, strategy and innovation, solve complex strategic problems, playing a pivotal role in improving collaboration in policymaking thus ultimately supporting teams to build a greener, fairer, safer and more prosperous city.
**Principal accountabilities**
1. Provides governance and a strategic link across all units within the Good Growth directorate, ensuring effective communication of objectives, work programmes and policy areas. Using open innovation and design thinking methods/techniques to aid more effective and better integrated policy making.
2. Provides strategic leadership in the development and delivery of good practice around policy making, strategy and innovation across the Good Growth directorate to support the mayor’s manifesto.
3. Collaborates across the Good Growth directorate working with the GLA Strategy Team and others to ensure that strategic policy for the Good Growth directorate is aligned with corporate programme timescales and with greater integration to promote effective resource sharing and efficiency, to maximise positive outcomes for Londoners.
4. Leads activities within teams to execute design sprints, workshops, stakeholder engagement and mapping. Offers program design and delivery advice, resources and workshop facilitation and support for strategic challenges the Good Growth directorate is responsible for addressing.
5. Strategically leads teams to link policy development with programme performance to achieve measurable impact.
6. Develops and maintains excellent internal and external working relationships, and participates in cross-organisational projects, to ensure opportunities for integration are maximised across the work programme of the GLA Group.
7. Builds and maintains relationships with key strategic stakeholders/partners (funded and non-funded), such as NLA, Centre for London and Connected Cities catapult. Identifying and maximising opportunities to further enhance partnerships and stakeholder relationships.
8. Provide advice and technical support to the Executive Director, Assistant Directors and Head of Good Growth Coordination Team, Deputy Mayors and Mayoral Advisers on matters within the area of responsibility.
9. Manage staff and resources allocated to the job in accordance with the Authority’s policies and Code of Ethic and Standards.

**PERSON SPECIFICATION**
**Technical requirements/experience/qualifications**
- A relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification or ability to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge and skills gained through experience. A background in design thinking or open innovation practice would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, influence and inspire at all levels and move toward a common vision or goal.
- Significant experience dealing with complex problems and using creative problem-solving skills to translate objectives into engaging workshops and design sprints.
