The role of Safeguarding Clinical Educator is to promote and develop the quality of the learning environment providing supervision, support and clinical educational and professional development to support all learners and newly recruited nurses in clinical practice.

The post holder will provide a comprehensive, quality and effective adult and child safeguarding training across North Cumbria’s Health & Care System, to include the wider ICC footprint.

The role would suit someone who has been a safeguarding champion/supervisor/lead for their team - with specialist knowledge of safeguarding who wants to take this forward in a supportive team.

The post-holder will act as a resource for advice and clinical support for all staff across the health system. To include:

- provide clinical/safeguarding education and training
- support and facilitate students, newly qualified nurses and existing healthcare staff in expanding their workplace skills
- provide feedback from observations and assessment against agreed Trust policies and procedures
- undertake an active role in Service Improvement

The post-holder is responsible and accountable for their own practice, working within the defined limits of competence and within the scope of the role.

This role will include providing safeguarding advice to issues that arise during training, conducting safeguarding audits, safeguarding supervision, and contributing to the writing and updating of policy, procedure and guideline documents.
- To provide the safeguarding children and adult training and ensure that systems are in place to deliver training, audit training needs and monitor compliance.
- Provision of all levels of Safeguarding Adult and Children training, both individually and in groups across North Cumbria’s Health & Care System.
- Support practitioners in the development of their safeguarding in clinical practice which promotes competence in accordance National guidelines (Reference-ICD 2018 and the NMC) local guidelines, as well as other appropriate and statutory guidelines.
- To work in partnership with Key operational leads across North Cumbria’s Health & Care System to identify staff development and education needs with regard to safeguarding adults and MCA/DoLS
- Providing safeguarding advice, conducting safeguarding audits, and safeguarding supervision
- To contribute to the development and implementation of Training that delivers North Cumbria’s Health & Care System Safeguarding strategy.
- To contribute to the implementation of policies, procedures and protocols in conjunction with other safeguarding staff
- Deliver ad hoc and bitesize training for staff in clinical areas
- Facilitate and organise courses and events according to Trust need.
- To work in partnership with the learning and improvement sub-groups of both the Childrens and Adults safeguarding boards
