The Named Professional role is open to qualified and registered nurses, social workers and allied health professionals with a dedication and understanding of Safeguarding Adults requirements across the network.

Act as the safeguarding lead for adults across the organisation

Promote best practice and emerging practice in Safeguarding Adults work

Support all activities necessary to ensure that the organisation meets its responsibilities to safeguard/protect adults at risk, with the ability to challenge poor practice

Be responsible to and accountable within the managerial framework of NCIC, linking to the Designated Nurse within the ICB’s to ensure a link into the wider health economy

The Safeguarding team provide safeguarding support, advice, guidance, training and challenge to NCIC’s staff and systems, in order to ensure a timely and good quality response to safeguarding concerns.

The Advice and Support line is available 9 - 5 every weekday (except bank holidays.)

We provide safeguarding training to meet national and local standards. Bespoken training and learning options are offered by the team to meet the needs of a wide ranging staff group.

The team offers support to embed, maintain, improve and challenge safeguarding systems and processes.

The team provides assurance on safeguarding practice both within the Trust and the NHS and to external partners.

General

Post holders will be expected to act in line with the Intercollegiate Document Adult Safeguarding: Roles and Competencies for Health Care Staff | Royal College of Nursing (rcn.org.uk)

Act as the safeguarding lead for adults across the organisation

Promote best practice and emerging practice in Safeguarding Adults work

Support all activities necessary to ensure that the organisation meets its responsibilities to safeguard/protect adults at risk, with the ability to challenge poor practice

Be responsible to and accountable within the managerial framework of NCIC, linking to the Designated Nurse within the ICB’s to ensure a link into the wider health economy

There may also be a requirement to undertake other similar duties as part of this post in order to provide a quality service. These will be consistent with the level of responsibilities outlined above.
