Portfolio Delivery Facilitator

Sheffield, United Kingdom Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Full time

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the Clinical Research Network Yorkshire and Humber (CRN YH). The Portfolio Delivery Facilitator role forms part of the CRN YH Study Support Service who, as a collective, support the setup, feasibility, performance and delivery of the NIHR Clinical Research portfolio across the region.

The Portfolio Delivery Facilitator plays a key role as a member of the Study Support Service Team to ensure the CRN YH provides research support to various clinical / research specialties conducting research within NHS and other public health and social care environments. The team supports both commercially and non-commercially sponsored portfolio studies.

The Portfolio Delivery Facilitator role involves liaison with a wide variety of research colleagues across the region including study teams, R&D colleagues in NHS Trusts, clinical specialty leads and colleagues supporting research in primary care services including General Practice and other allied health community settings.

This post is providing maternity leave cover until April 2023 and would be an ideal secondment opportunity. The post is based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, supported by the Study Support Manager and fellow colleagues within the Study Support Service and CRN YH.

As a Portfolio Delivery Facilitator, you will have line management responsibilities and work alongside colleagues to support the delivery of the day-to-day functions of the Study Support Service. You will be required to actively manage aspects of the Local and Central Portfolio Management systems (EDGE and CPMS) and provide effective support to colleagues working across our 4 research groups encompassing 30 research specialties.

This role will include supporting research studies to restart / recover as the pressures of the pandemic ease by contributing to national initiatives providing targeted study support. This role offers a great opportunity to directly support both COVID and non-COVID studies and build on the success of research and learnings during the pandemic.

You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all of its staff and the community it serves. The Trust is a leader in the NHS and research sectors and provides excellent benefits for its staff. This includes commitments to professional development but also many policies to support employees in balancing their personal and professional lives.

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) was created as part of the Department of Health & Social Care’s research and development strategy, to provide a world-class infrastructure for clinical trials and high quality research in all areas of disease and clinical need within the NHS. The CRN YH is part of the NIHR and is one of 15 Local Clinical Research Networks in England and aims to support clinical teams to recruit NHS patients to NIHR portfolio studies.

The CRN YH area includes 22 NHS Trusts and 16 local Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) across 4 Integrated Care System (ICS) partnerships. CRN YH staff provide a coordinated and efficient infrastructure of research personnel and facilities to support recruitment and drive clinical research delivery performance across the locality.

Please view the attached Job Description and Person Specification documents for full details regarding this post.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period until April 2023 due to maternity leave of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and statutory maternity provisions.

Please also note any secondment must first be agreed with your current line manager.
