What’s the role about?
Our client has been awarded government funding to develop a Landscape Recovery Scheme in south east Dorset centred on Wareham to the west of Poole Harbour. They, alongside their project partners, will have two years to explore how they can support and fundnature’s recovery across over 3,700 hectares of land. The project is known as Wareham Arc.
They are looking for a Finance Officer to support the development phase of this project.
You will be responsible for all finances relating to external funders, working with stakeholders and to strict deadlines. You will have experience in financial management of projects, be responsible for managing the budget in accordance with funder and theirrequirements, ensuring all potential variances are documented correctly. You will have responsibility to provide financial reporting to funders and partners. You will have responsibility to purchase goods and services for the project and work within the procurementpolicy of theirs, partners, and funders.
They need someone who is highly organised and has a good attention to detail. This role requires a collaborative approach, that combines the ability to adapt to changing priorities and under pressure, while working under your own initiative to achieve resultsand to tight deadlines.
What they need from you
The Finance Officer will oversee the following activities:
- Keeping an accurate and up-to-date budget
- Management of financial administration
- Preparation of financial reports for management, funders, and partners
- Procurement of goods and services for the project in accordance with funder and partner procurement policies
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
- Five GCSEs (or equivalent) to include Maths and English, or the ability to demonstrate work-related experience and evidence a high level of literacy
- Computer literacy - Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and transferable skills for the use of other online packages.
- Financial analysis skills
- Experience of planning, creating, and evaluating financial reports
- Experience of producing financial claims
- Experience of working with complex budget information
- Proven ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing
- Proven organisation and time management skills
Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:
- Interest in the environment and sustainable living
- Experience of working with volunteers.
Additional Information
This is a fixed-term contract ending 31st Dec 2024, working part-time (18.5 hours per week).
They will consider flexible working arrangements. The role could be primarily office-based at their Arne, Dorset, a project partner’s office or a hybrid working model of office and home-working.
They reserve the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.
