Job overview
Support and Help In Education (SHINE) Mental Health Support teams are expanding, to assist with transforming children and young people’s mental health and emotional wellbeing services, providing early intervention and faster access to the right support at the right time.
As the team continues to develop, there is now the opportunity for a qualified Educational Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP), Children and Young Peoples Wellbeing Practitioner (CYWP) or Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) to join our existing teams to deliver increased support. As part of the Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs), the practitioner will work in both education and healthcare settings to support children and young people with emotional wellbeing and mental health needs, along with their families and carers. This role supports the Government’s priority of increasing access to, and availability of, mental health and wellbeing support for children and young people.
The postholder will work under the direction of the MHST Service Lead and other senior staff within the team, across the secondary schools, special schools and our Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) within the Fylde Coast footprint. Joint working with Options4CYP (Children and Young People) and other teams in the wider Fylde Coast system will be essential, to support the emotional wellbeing and mental health needs of the children and young people.
Main duties of the job
To work with children and young people to assess and deliver 1 to 1 and group interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties
To work with families and carers to increase good mental health.
To deliver and integrate a whole school approach into the ethos of allocated schools.
To complete consultations to advise staff on how to support children and young people and signpost to relevant services.
To undertake and engage in regular caseload management supervision and clinical skills supervision
To use electronic clinical systems to keep accurate notes and other records.
Working for your organisation
All teams working on the Fylde Coast with children, young people and families have a strong work ethic of support for each other, with all team members seen as equals. The services have been established for many years and have now expanded to encompass Mental Health Support Teams, with a range of professionals and dedicated admin staff. We have an ethos of person-centred service for our clients as well as good self-care being encouraged within the team. This also extends to each other as colleagues, leading to a strong and motivated team.
