An exciting opportunity for an optometrist, ophthalmic nurse or orthoptist to work part time as part of the glaucoma ophthalmology team within Swansea Bay University Health Board.

To work as a highly skilled autonomous senior practitioner and to have expert knowledge in the field of glaucoma using highly specialist testing skills, providing patient-centered clinical care. The post is intended to provide improved outcomes for patients by improving timeliness and consistency of care.

To be responsible for diagnosis and planning, implementation and monitoring individual treatment plans/care pathways using advanced clinical reasoning and evidence based practice for both new and follow up patients.

To work closely with the glaucoma consultant ophthalmologist and the non-medical service lead for glaucoma.

To supervise and give highly specialist advice to members of the multidisciplinary team whilst ensuring safe practice and compliance with clinical governance through use of policies and protocols.

Where professional training permits, undertakes non-medical prescribing within sphere of competence. Complying with the requirements of the non-medical prescribing policy and professional body guidance e.g. independent prescribing qualification/ medical exemptions qualification

To attend advanced training and specialist courses to maintain and develop skills and maintain evidence based practice.

To deputise for the Lead for glaucoma services, Swansea Bay University Health Board
