Ambitious and rapidly growing engineering SME require a Materials Manager. Ideally applicants will have experience / exposure in; planning, purchasing, inventory, stores/warehouse management, and logistics factory and external).

The Materials Manager will work closely with the Operations Manager and will be responsible for driving change, LEAN and process improvement across the areas in scope; production planning, purchasing, stores and logistics. Previous experience to all of theseareas would not be required, but the Materials Manager should be looking to develop in areas that they have not covered before. The Materials Manager will manage staff in these teams, via supervisors.

Specific duties of the Materials Manager include:

- Optimisation of production planning, purchasing and forecasting activity
- Develop Stores/Warehouse team leaders - encourage Perpetual Inventory and LEAN inventory management techniques
- Improve internal/factory logistics processes
- Promote best practice in the area of outbound logistics and foster stronger relationships with couriers/3PLs
- Support Operations Manager and business-wide initiatives; MRP/ERP implementation, CI initiatives etc.

Materials Manager applicants should meet the following criteria:

- Experience, Exposure or understanding of; planning, purchasing, stores/warehouse management and logistics
- Previous management experience
- An appetite for change or continuous improvement activities
- Understanding of the functions of MRP/ERP
- Experience within a manufacturing or engineering business
- Degree / Industry accredited qualification - desirable
